Up for your consideration is an exquisite, colorful,'shabby-chic,' primitive styled, artisan made, cabinet with a built-in mirror on the front door of the cabinet, a decorative knob on the door to open/close it, three 12 1/2" long X 4" deep shelves inside giving it a total of 37 1/2 linear inches of shelf space inside this marvelous, colorful cabinet piece. The cabinet is hand-made, hand-carved, and hand painted by a skilled artisan in Southeast Asia in the country of Indonesia a chain of islands located in the Pacific and Indian oceans.

Artisans in Indonesia have been making furniture and other home furnishings for generations using the same primitive woodworking tools to carve their woodenware and their same vegetable dyed paints to create a'shabby-chic,' primitive styled, decorative look to their wooden furniture, like the cabinet in this listing, and other decorator items used for export from Indonesia to other parts of the world stimulating their economy and keeping skilled artisans working for profit in their native country. The cabinet in this listing is about the size of a standard size'medicine cabinet' you would find in a bathroom here in America. Besides using it as a bathroom'medicine cabinet' it also makes a nice wall mounted cabinet in a foyer, kitchen, living area, a home office, an in-home library, a dining room, mud room, or any room you would want to mount it in as there are two very sturdy metal mounting hooks on the back of it. This item is a very versatile one as it has a built-in mirror in the front door of it that has been replaced with a band new mirror in the front door of it. Looking at the cabinet from the front of it is astounding hand-carving showing a sunrise piece on the very top of it with fifteen spiked sun rays pointing outward, just below the sunrise, on the inside edge is some hand-carved stipples in a half-circle, below this is a red pinstripe also showing stipples on it, below this in the center of the sunrise is a large leafy green colored flower in relief showing colorful pistols and stamens too, below this is the top of the framing that the cabinet is made from, behind the sunrise on top is a long wide plank that joins the sunrise to the top of the cabinet; a great place to store things on it like a shampoo bottle, to hide a house key in the foyer, or for any reason you would need an additional 15 1/2 shelf space.

Again, looking at the cabinet from the front, is a large door with a blue opening/closing knob on it on the left side of the door, the door houses the mirror in it, the door is recessed into the framing of the cabinet, and held in place two sets of hinges allowing the door to swing to and fro. The framing around the door with its interior mirror is just gorgeous. There are four eight petal flowers with red pistols & stamens on them and they are found on all four corners of the door like rosettes on a Victorian piece of fine furniture. On each side of the mirror are some green and red diamond shapes in relief with a sallow yellow background color to them. The upper and lower framing around the mirror show similar sallow yellow diamond shapes in relief with four green hearts in relief around the diamond shapes in the middle of this framing.

There is also some navy blue framing around the door and the rest of the framing on the cabinet. On each side of the cabinet is some more sallow yellow paint, and the shelf on top is done in a bright orange color. Besides the cabinet being hand-made all of these decorative patterns on the door have been hand-carved with primitive woodworking tools handed down from one generation to another to artisans of Indonesia and the patterns are painted with vegetable dyes from vegetables in the regions of Indonesia that have been soaked in water thus extracting their coloring from the vegetable, made into paint to paint this cabinet and other home furnishings making them'one-of-a-kind' as no two are ever alike like this delightfully hand-decorated wall mounted cabinet. The cabinet, with all of its features, is a perfect example of'shabby-chic-primitive' styled decorum as'shabby-chic' is a style of interior design where furniture and home furnishings are either chosen for their appearance of age, signs of wear & tear, weathering, and distress or where new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of antique looking furniture and home furnishings. Oftentimes'shabby-chic primitive style' shows muted coloring like the colors on this cabinet and hand or chip cut carving again, like the woodworking techniques employed in the making of this'rustic- primitive- shabby- chic' piece of cabinetry.

The cabinet measures 28" high X 14 3/4" wide X 5 3/4 deep, and it is in perfect condition with the exception of a crack in the back of it probably two pieces of wood joined together in a primitive fashion. A cabinet like this one is hard to come by as most Indonesian artifacts are much smaller than this one. Please don't hesitate to make a reasonable offer as my prices are flexible too.
